1911 5 Day Custom Build Class at the Robar shop in Phoenix AZ 4/29 thru 5/3 2019
We only have the 5 day build class at Robar to date. If you are interested in a different class, please email Tech@cylinder-slide.com
We offer 3 classes in Fremont in September. The national match full fit barrel class is a two day class September 5th and 6th where you fit a full fit barrel to a 1911 that you supply. If you prefer a caliber other than .45 ACP, please let us know ahead of time so we can check availability and get it ordered so it is here for class. We also need to check with the instructor as well to see if it is a caliber he is comfortable with. Also please let us know the manufacturer of the 1911 you will be supplying. In our experience some manufacturers have tolerances that make barrel fitting difficult. The class is $ 995 and is on a Thursday and Friday. The class is $ 725 if you are taking it in conjunction with the 5 day custom build class.
The following Saturday, September 7th, we offer a “Maintenance and Malfunction” class that is about 6 -7 hours and runs $ 150. It is full of information such as what goes wrong with the 1911 and why, what parts are prone to failure and learning the signs and symptoms of a 1911 that is having issues. I really can’t use words to describe how much information is in this class.
The custom build class is a 5 day, September 9th through the 13th, class that is on the following Monday through Friday. Tuition and tool rental is $ 2,500 and the parts kit is around $ 1,500 depending on what you select for fire control parts and sights. You get the frame and slide – everything needed to build a custom 1911. The sight cuts will be done in advance, however you still need to fit the sights to the slide. You get to learn the tricks and tips that our gunsmiths have learned over the years. On Friday you will get to test fire your 1911. To get the frame to you we can do it two different ways. We can send the frame to an FFL dealer of your choice so you can bring the completed firearm directly home with you, or we can send the completed pistol to your preferred FFL when you are done with class. Also keep in mind the cost of the class doesn’t include finishing. Probably the preferred finish is matte blue, but there are other options. Students sometimes don’t finish their 1911 because they still want to work on it.
A deposit of $ 1,500 will reserve a bench for you.
